Following a successful debut in 2023, the second edition of The World’s 50 Best Hotels has been announced at a captivating awards ceremony in London and includes industry-defining hotels from across six continents worldwide.
This evening's awards ceremony once again brought together the global travel and hospitality community to celebrate the world's best hotels. Held at the historic Guildhall, the event showcased exceptional hotel experiences that will inspire consumers, travellers, and hoteliers around the globe.
At this year’s ceremony, two of Belmond’s legendary properties were awarded: Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Maya at No.18 and awarded with the Flor de Caña Eco Hotel of 2024. Whilst Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, Cape Town ranks at No.28 and claims the place of 2024's Best Hotel in Africa.
Set amongst 200 acres of lush tropical jungle and the secluded white sands of Mexico’s Caribbean coast, Maroma reopened in August 2023, having been carefully reimagined by Tara Bernerd & Partners, with Mayan design, traditions, and culture at the forefront. The reborn icon now has 72 rooms, suites, and ocean view villas and four dining destinations including a new gastronomic restaurant, Woodend by Curtis Stone, by the renowned Michelin-star chef and Casa Mayor by Mexican-born Executive Chef Daniel Camacho, where authentic local cuisine takes centre stage. Maroma Spa by Guerlain launched this January as a holistic wellness retreat with a menu of nature-focused treatments and immersive guest experiences including an onsite apothecary and Meliponario, housing the revered Melipona bee. Most recently, the hotel has partnered with Parley for the Oceans to forge an enduring legacy for the surrounding oceans.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2024 was revealed as part of a live countdown from No.50 to No.1. The ranking is complemented by a host of special awards and reflects the very best travel experiences around the globe, collated from the votes of 600 anonymous experts. This voting panel – the 50 Best Hotels Academy – comprises a balanced mix of hoteliers, travel journalists, educators and seasoned luxury travellers, led by a group of industry-leading Academy Chairs.
