La Residencia, a Belmond Hotel, Mallorca, invites you to experience a different kind of dinner

Press release

Art & Dine

1 March, 2019

For the warmer months of the year, La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel, located in the Northwestern, picturesque artist´s village of Deià, is thrilled to present a new dynamic and interactive dining experience to its guests.

Drawn into the world of sculptures, paintings & artists
This unique property lives and breathes art. The link with it and those who make it, dates back to when the hotel first opened in 1984 and one of the artists living in the village suggested to the former owner that it would be an ideal place to showcase the work of the young artists working in and around Deià. Since then, an impressive art collection has grown and today some 800 original canvases grace the white walls of the buildings.

The curious type who likes to do something different and is on top of this an art lover should certainly not miss that activity in the shape of an alternative culinary journey throughout the beautiful property of this mountain hide-away. Whether sipping a cocktail by a Miró or sampling a starter by an Arturo Rhodes: this exceptional Art & Dine experience á la Belmond leads its participants via the hotel’s most striking artworks, while serving exquisite food and drink at every stop.

Passion, creativity and fine cuisine
In an intimate group of maximum four people guests start their dynamic dinner in the unique sculpture garden next to Miró’s magnificent La Tête, where they begin to learn about the unparalleled art collection of La Residencia while taking in the enchanting evening atmosphere of this Mediterranean haven.

Always accompanied by a knowledgable member of staff the party then strolls along to Sa Tafona Gallery for an amuse-bouche served on the grand Steinway piano which enhances this historical space. Guests might want to peek into the Sculptor-in-residence´s studio next door or meet the man himself –  rest assured that the stop promises to please all senses. The following spot of choice introduces the diners to the Van Gogh-inspired Vincent’s Letter to Theo, a painting by the very charismatic and rather iconic local artist, Arthur Rhodes. As all dishes, also this exquisite starter will be related somehow to the art work it’s served by. Expect the unexpected. The main course, can then be savoured next to the sprawling´s property gourmet restaurant El Olivo, and more specifically at a table among the easels and surrounded by art in the studio of yet another of the hotel´s resident artists, Alan Hydes.

As the wine flows, so will the conversation, and, enlightened by the magic of Deiàs artistic touch, before long the evening finishes in fine style with a truly surprising dessert prepared by head chef Guillermo Mendéz himself - an artist of its own kind - in Café Miró. Guests might want to share their impressions of this unforgettable experience with a digestif on the moonlit terrace
