Copacabana Palace, A Belmond Hotel announces the new General Manager  

Ulisses Marreiros is the new general manager of Copacabana Palace, one of the most traditional and luxurious hotels in Brazil. Part of the Belmond group since 2008, Ulisses arrives directly from Majorca, Spain, where he held the position of general manager of the exclusive Belmond La Residencia for seven years. Marreiros will take over the new rules  from January 2021.
Belmond has been part of the luxury group LVMH since 2019 and is present in 23 countries operating a collection of iconic hotels, trains and luxury cruises. Ulisses joined Belmond as a resident director of Belmond Reid´s Palace, in Madeira Island, Portugal, where he later came to occupy the post of general manager for three years.

I hope to be able to continue the excellent work developed over the past few years” , reveals Ulisses.
With extensive experience in the sector, Ulisses started his career in luxury hospitality at the renowned Hotel Quinta do Lago, in the Algarve, Portugal, as an intern in the commercial department, and soon moved on to reception, reservations, golf-desk, night audit and banquets, until reaching the positions of services diretor and head of sales. Marreiros also passed by the Iberotel Club Praia da Rocha, located in Portimão - a port city in the Algarve region -, where he worked in bars, restaurants and food and beverage. In addition, he held the position of sales & marketing director at the prestigious Vila Vita Parc, located in Porches, also in the Algarve region and participated in the opening of the award-winning One & Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives, as the sales manager for the resort, with a strong link also to operations. He also worked for two seasons at TAP Air Portugal as a traffic officer and in special assistance.

The new general manager of Copa is from Faro, in the Algarve, and speaks Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian and German. With a degree in hotel management from the University of Algarve, Ulisses is a big fan of Hospitality, having participated in leadership and management courses at the renowned Bocconi universities in Milan, Cornell and Harvard Business School, in addition to postgraduate studies in hotel management by INESP / ADHP. As a good Portuguese, he enjoys gastronomy and high quality wines, loves being close to friends and family, is a fan of running and other action sports.
